Camp Kwasind announces the return of Rodney “Captain” Vis into the new role of Director of Operations

TORONTO, ON (April 13, 2023) — Camp Kwasind, continues to be a rapidly growing Christian camp in Muskoka, highly invested in making camp fun, safe, memorable and affordable, announces today that with its on-going growth of camp, it has hired Rodney “Captain” Vis as Director of Operations effective June 12, 2023.

Camp Kwasind’s Executive Director, Matt “Coach” Wilkinson has stated that “it is a huge answer to prayer and blessing to have Rod rejoin the Kwasind team in this senior level position as we welcome campers back after a challenging few years.  His unique skill set is a great addition to our existing team and it will set Kwasind up for greater sustainability as we continue to pursue the mission of Kwasind in helping every camper move one step closer to Jesus.”

The addition of this new role of Director of Operations to the full-time Kwasind staff team has been designed for the purpose to collaborate with our Executive Director in the ongoing development of Kwasind with specific focusing being given to the oversight and implementation of the day-to-day operations.  This role will provide additional support and investment to both Ethan Clark (Managing Director) and Will Kahler (Facilities & Site Development Manager), whom as a collective team, along with Emily Neal (Office Manager) will see Kwasind continue to maximize growth opportunities, elevate the campers experience and increase support and development of seasonal staff for the coming years.

Many in the Kwasind community will be familiar with Rodney (also known as “Captain” around Kwasind), as he had served as the Managing Director of Camp Kwasind from 2014-2017, volunteered on the Camp Kwasind Management Team from 2018-2023, and was contracted for part-time work to project manage the build of the Kwasind Centre over the last few years.

Five years ago, we were able to bless Rodney in his transition from his role at Kwasind into the Director of Student Ministries at Compass Community Church.  Over these last number of years, he has played a vital role in helping their youth grow in faith and has made a lasting impact.  We are thrilled to announce that as Rodney makes his return to the full-time staff team of Camp Kwasind, he will continue to be involved in the life Compass Community Church where his wife, Jen, will continue as part of the church staff team.

In returning to the Kwasind staff team, Rodney said, “Kwasind has been a blessing to families and campers for generations and a significant catalyst for their faith journeys.  I am excited to return and work alongside our amazing staff to further the mission of camp in helping young people take steps closer to Jesus. Kwasind has been a special part of my heart and I’m looking forward with anticipation to all God will in and through me and Kwasind as I continue to serve Him through camping ministry.”

It is with genuine joy and excitement that the Kwasind staff, Camp Kwasind Management Team and CBOQ family officially welcome Rodney Vis, his wife Jen, their grown kids (Tyler, Hannah, Carter & Abigail) back to the Camp Kwasind year-round staff team.

We invite you to send words of welcome and congrats to Rod@Kwasind.com
