Voyageurs provides an age-appropriate introduction to independence. With small groups and dedicated leaders, campers can practice responsibility, decision-making, and problem-solving while knowing that encouragement and support are always close by.
Friendships That Go Beyond the Shore
Canoe tripping is all about teamwork! Whether they’re paddling together, helping prepare a meal, or sharing stories around the campfire, campers learn the importance of communication, cooperation, kindness, and encouraging one another.
Discovering God’s Creation
Away from screens and everyday distractions, Voyageurs invites campers to slow down and experience the wonder of God’s creation. Through outdoor exploration, meaningful conversations, and intentional faith experiences, campers will be encouraged to see God’s handiwork all around them.
The Beginning of a Lifelong Adventure

Frequently Asked Questions:
Does my child need previous canoeing or camping experience?
Not at all! Voyageurs is specifically designed for beginners. Our leaders will introduce campers to canoeing, outdoor living, and camping skills in a fun, supportive, and age-appropriate way.
Where will my child be canoe tripping?
Voyageurs takes place on Skeleton Lake, the beautiful lake Camp Kwasind calls home. This allows campers to experience the excitement of a canoe trip while remaining close to camp.
How many nights will campers spend away from main camp?
Voyageurs is a one-week program that includes three nights of canoe tripping. Campers will also spend time at Camp Kwasind participating in activities and preparing for their adventure.
How many campers and leaders will be on the trip?
Each group will consist of just five campers and two leaders. These small groups allow for personalized attention, strong relationships, and plenty of encouragement as campers learn new skills.
What if my child is nervous about canoe tripping or being away from home?
It’s completely normal for young adventurers to feel a little nervous! Voyageurs is intentionally designed to introduce children to new experiences gradually, with supportive leaders who help campers feel welcomed, encouraged, and included.
Does my child need to know how to swim?
All canoe-tripping activities follow Camp Kwasind’s waterfront safety procedures, including appropriate personal flotation devices (PFDs). Families should share their child’s swimming ability and comfort level with the camp team before registration.
What happens if there's bad weather?
Camper safety is always our priority. Our leaders monitor weather conditions and adjust activities or trip plans when necessary. The goal is to provide a memorable adventure while making decisions that prioritize camper well-being.
What should my child pack?
Families will receive a detailed packing list before their session, including clothing, footwear, sleeping gear, and other outdoor essentials. We’ll help you understand what your child needs to be ready for their adventure!
Is Voyageurs a good fit for my child?
Voyageurs is ideal for children who are curious about the outdoors, excited to try something new, or ready for a little more adventure in their summer camp experience. Your child doesn’t need to be an experienced camper, just willing to learn, explore, and have fun!
